Anna Niblic Heggie

bio

Internationally represented, Australian artist, Anna Heggie creates art to make meaning and foster global understanding and peace. Anna works from her studio residence at Lennox Head on the Far North Coast of NSW, Australia and signs her work 'Niblic'.

Born in Sydney of Polish immigrants she started painting at an early age, her first oil painting was at about 12. Anna studied at 19 for three years intensively with Tonal Impressionist painter, Fred Martin, from the Max Meldrum School. She learnt to paint in strict tonalism which she later disregarded for more personal freedom. However, the most important aspect of that period came from regular philosophical conversation on art and life that sustained a deeper enquiry into seeing and a lifetime commitment to the arts.

She has travelled extensively, exhibiting internationally and has work in many overseas collections.

Anna Niblic Heggie Anna is both a painter and photographer and this has become integral to her visual expression. Her paintings have become more photographic and her photography, more painterly.

Anna has complemented her life as an artist with teaching students and facilitating workshops in painting, drawing and photography.

She started exhibiting regularly from her early twenties and subsequently completed graduate and post graduate studies in the fields of art and teaching.

These experiences and qualifications have helped her career as an artist and arts facilitator. Anna found that travelling and learning about other cultures has been the best part of an education.
